Letter confirmed.
The threatening letter was confirmed in 1481. It was confirmed with the Papal bull Aeterni regis. That granted the land below(south) canary to portuguese. -

Portageese explorers.
Portuguese explorers have been looking for land and exploring. 1493 the portuguese explorers had already reached the southern tip of africa. The tip was the Cape of good hope. -

The Catholic monarchs tried to stop the portuguese advance in asia. By claiming the meridian around the world. Portugal pushed back seeking another papal pronouncement. It was given in 1514 to the bulls Praecelsus devotionis. -
