The Roanoke Colony, also known as the Lost Colony, was established on Roanoke Island. Queen Elizabeth I wanted to establish a permanent English settlement, so she got Sir Walter Raleigh to sail to find a land for the English to settle. -
Jamestown, Virginia

The colonists arrived in Jamestown on May 13, 1607. The voyage to Jameston last 144 days, approximately four and a half months. Esatablished by The Virginia Company of England and called Jamestown, after King James I. Jamestown was the birthplace of America. -
Mayflower Compact Signed
Mayflower Compact SignedThe Mayflower Compact was signed in Provincetown Harbor by 41 men, establishing a form of local government. The colonists agreed to abide by majority rules and to cooperate for the general good of the colony. The compact sets the percedent for other colonies as they set up govrnment. -
Plymouth Colony
The prilgrams sailed on the ship called the Mayflower to find a new land to have religious freedom or a better life. On December 26, 1620, they reached the land and they named it Plymouth. Plymouth, Massachsetts was the first permanent Puritan settlement. -
Colony of Maryland Founded
The Colony of Maryland was founded by Sir Cecil Calvert. The colony was named after King Charles I wife, Henrietta Maria. -
New England Confederation Founded
The United Colonies of New England, known as the New England Confederation, was a short-lived military alliance of the English colonies. The colonies that were within the agreement was Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth, Connecticut, and New Haven. They all met in Boston to adopted this written constitution for "mutal safelt and welfare." -
Quakers settle in Pennsylvania
In August of 1682, the Welsh Quakers came to the New Wrold hoping for a new life. The Quakers settled in Pennsylvania, which is named after William Penn. -
Salem Witchcraft Trials
In January of 1692, nineteen men and women were put to death by being hanged for being accused of witchcraft. The Witchcraft Trails were put into motion due to Dr. William Griggs diagnois of bewitchment of the daughter and niece of Reverend Samuel Parris. -
Debt Recovery Act
This act was to declare land and slaves to be equivalent of property for the purpose of satisfying debts owned by colonists. The act was one of a series of laws and acts imposed by Great Britain that led to anger, resentment, and ultimatly revolution in Colonial America. -
Georgia Established
Georgia EstablishedJames Oglethorpe founded Georgia on February 12, 1733. The land was named Georgia after King Geroge III of England.
