Jessica is born - trust versus mistrust
Jessica was born but shortly after her birth her mother abandon her and gave her to an orphanage. Her infancy was spent in an orphanage where she wasn't nurtured as well because the amount of children in the facility and the lack of workers.
Being in the first stage, trust verse mistrust, she learns to doubt the trust of others because she isn't well loved and to think that life will not be rewarding. -
Jessica get a proposal for marriage - Intimacy versus isolation
Jessica has been in a relationship for awhile with this person when they ask her to marry them. Although she really likes them she has always kept her heart at a distance because she deals with trust issues. So when she is brought up with the question of marry she declines because she doesn't feel like she can be vulnerable and trusting enough to marry someone. She is in the sixth stage, intimacy versus isolation. So she will end up alone instead of becoming vulnerable. -
Jessica is dying - ego integrity versus despair
As Jessica is in the hospital alone and she is terminally ill she is thinking about her life. She has had many accomplishments with her career but she is alone and doesn't have her own immediate family because she chose to not be close to anyone. She is in the eighth stage, ego integrity versus despair, and she is sad because she feels she should have opened up her heart more. Maybe she should have gotten married and had kids. She is looking back at life with some regrets.
