The Comstock Load began when two prospectors stuck gold in the Sierra Nevada. Then came Henery Comstock, as he demanded to become a partner. The Comstock Load ended when there were major gold strikes in Alaska in the late 1890s. -

The Cattle Kingdom began because of a demand for meat. Following the Cattle Kingdoms high point of killing thousands of cattle a day. Once barbed wire was created, and the winters of 1886 and 1887 killed entire heards of cattle, the Cattle Kingdom was over. -

The Chivington Massacre has had a lasting impact on America. The Native Americans rose their white flag,(which showed they surrendered), but Colonel Chivington told his men,''Kill all little or big''. This was a very tragic event in the West. -
Barbed Wire was Invented
Barbed wire was signifigant to the West because it ended the Cattle Kingdom. The barbed wire kept the cattle herders from getting their cattle to the railroads. -
Battle of Little Bighorn
This battle was signifigant because it was the only battle in the West when the Native Americans killed all of the white men.This included Custer and his 225 men. -
Oklahoma Land Rush
This was an important event because this was a time when the goverment held a race to give away free land. This event was partly unsuccessful because of Sooners, and people would get trampled during the race.
