the Surma people are known for their extreme body modifications .
if u see a man that has a scar in the tribe , its most likely there because he killed a member of the rival tribe . the women in the Surma tribe have there lower teeth knocked out by a rock , cut open there lip with a blade and install the lip plate, the lip plate get bigger lip plates as they grow older. they do this when the girls hit puberty . they do this because its a sign of beauty in there culture. -
living condition
the tribe is located in south Ethiopia , near the boarder of Sudan.
there living space is shrinking due to new national parks opening for the public
