The start of his ruleMarcus Aurelius ruled from 161 C.E. to 180 C.E. he was considered the last of the "5 good emperors "of the 200 years of pax romana. Marcus unified the roman economy and spent a lot of time having to put down rebellions and fighting invations off. he chose his son Commodus to suceed him upon death. -

Constantines rise to power
Constanine converted to christianity after his battle with Licinius at milluian bridge. It is said that he had a vision of a symboll a p with a cross in it ( as the picture shows ) he had all of the sheilds painted with the symball and he ended up winning the battle. Having believed the symbal was from the christian god he converted. -

Constantinople
Constantine moves the capital of rome to byzantium and changes the name to constantinople in the eastern half of the empire. Constantine did this because the east half had all the trade routes to asia so it had more whealth. -

justinian became a byzantine emperor in the year 527 C.E. he is primarily responsible for the rise of the byzantine empire. he and his wife theodora were unoficial joint emperors. In 524 C.E. he created the justinian code. it was the basis of all byzantine laws and was still used 900 years after his death -
Diocletian
Diocletian was one of rome reformer emperors, he tried to turn the roman economy around. He created the first roman tetrarchy and split rome in two he ruled the whealthier eastern half with his co-emporer. however in 305 C.E. he gave up power and rome is plunged into civil war again. -
Commodus Aurelius
Commodus Aurelius ruled rome in 180 C.E Commodus's time as ruler is considered the beggining of the decline of the roman empire. while he ruled he was more interested in entertainment than the goverment. He was assassinated the year 192 C.E. Since he claimed no sucsessed rome falls into civil war.
