The Battles of Lexington and Concord
The Battles at Lexington and Concord began the Revolutionary War with the "shot heard 'round the world" at Lexington Green. The British forced the colonists to flee at Lexington. However, the colonists ambushed the British on their way back to Boston from Concord and took many British lives and captives. -

The Battle of Trenton
The army, commanded by General George Washington, attacked the Hessians, German mercanaries, who were camped out in Trenton, New Jersey on Christmas. The colonists defeated the Hessians and gained a huge morale boost and a lot of much needed supplies. -

Cornwallis (British) was ordered to attack Princeton. He did so and the Americans won the battle. -

The Battle of Saratoga was fought in New York and was a colony win. This battle was important because a large part of the British were captured, also this battle convinced France and Spain to help the colonists. -
Battle of Monmouth
The British decided that it was necessary to protect Florida and New York City. When the British start to evacuate Philidelphia to New York, they cross New Jersey. The colonists harass them along their way and many of the British travelers flee or collapse from the heat. The colonists attack them and win the battle. -
The Battle of Camden
The British, surprisingly, won this battle in South Carolina. This renewed the British's hope. -
The Battle of King's Mountain
The partriots won this battle after their defeat at tha Battle of Camden. This helped the momentum start going in the patriots' way again. -
Battle of Cowpens
The Americans won this battle very convincingly after the British's failed attempt to take over the Southern colonies. -
Battle of Guilford Courthouse
The Americans were ,at first, winning this battle, until the British broke though their defenses. When the smoke from the guns cleared, the Americans had retreated, leaving the British this win. -
Battle of Eutaw Springs
After the British thought they had forced the Americans to flee, the patriots came back and forced the British into retreat. -
Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown was the final battle of the Revolutionary War. The U.S. won this battle with the help of the French soldiers and Navy. -
Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris officially ended the war two years after the Battle of Yorktown. This recognized the colonies as their own and independent country.
