The Black Legion
Malcolm's family had to move two times before he turned four because of a white organization called the Black Legion. Then in 1929 the Littles'home burned down, and two years later they found Earl Little's body next to some trolley tracks. Several years later Malcolm's mother Louis had an emotional breakdown and sent all the kids to diffirent foster cares, homes, and orphanages. -
Malcolm drops out of school
Malcolm was very smart, intelligent and focused young man but when he told his favorite teacher about being a lawyer in the future, she said "that is no realistic goal for a black man" After that, not trying to follow his dreams, Malcolm dropped out of school. After dropping out, he spent some time in Massachusetts, Boston. Then, he commited petty crimes in Harlem, New York. -
Malcolm gets arrested
In 1946 Malcolm and his friend Malcolm Jarvis moved back to Boston and they got arrested for burglary. He and the other Malcolm got arrested for seven years. -
Malcolm X spreads Muslim faith
After Malcolm X got out of jail he became a national spokesman of Islam. He spoke about Islam all across the radio, the newspaper, and television. His charisma, and attitude attracted a an astounding ammount of members joining the Nation of Islam. The ammount became 500 in 1952 then 30,000 in 1963. -
Malcolm X becomes famous
The crowds and controversy for Malcolm X made him famous. He was featured in a week-long television special with Mike Wallace in 1959, The Hate That Hate Produced. He became the most famous speaker of the Nation of Islam -
Racial tensions start to rise.
During the 1960s racial tensions began to rise and Malcolm wasn't helping much. -
Malcolm receives critism
After JFK died, Malcolm said " Kennedy never foresaw that the chickens would come home to roost so soon. By this he meant that the hate in white men had not stopped with the killing of defenless black people. -
Malcolm gets silenced
Because of what Malcolm said about JFK, his mentor, Muhammad, "silenced" him for 90 days. But that might not have been the only reason. -
Malcolm terminates his relationship with The Nation of Islam
In 1964 Malcolm terminated his realtionship with the Nation of Islam and then founded Muslim Mosque Inc. -
Malcolm's home gets firebombed
Malcolm rarley went anywhere without his bodyguards, but on this day Malcolm and his family's house got firebombed in New York. -
Malcolm gets assinated
At a speaking engagment in the Manhattan's Audubon Ballroom three men rushed out to Malcolm and shot him 15 times at close range. He was 39-years old when he died.
