Filmmakers begin to move to California. They do so to escape the MPPC and Edison's goons. Weather conditions where also much better. -

The first move, directed by Thomas Edison himself, was released. It was named "The Train Robbery". It was the first feature length film. -
1920's
The hay day of the silent films. Charlie Chaplain is America's first comedy man. He is an extremely successful comedy actor. -
1927
The first film with sound is released, called the "Jazz Singer". It is not completely a talkie movie. Still, it was revolutionary. -
1930
Sound really takes off in movies. Silent films begin to die out by 1937. Films are all talkies by the 1940's. -
1939
The first color films, The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind, are filmed and released. The color is achieved with Technicolor cameras. The color wows audiences -
1975 and 1977
The first blockbuster is released Jaws. It is followed two years later by Star Wars a New Hope. The blockbuster era begins. -
1993
CGI is introduced in another blockbuster film, Jurassic Park. It is a revolutionary film, the first to use CGI. It is a huge success -
2000
A new transition happens. Directors stop using film. They now record movies with digital cameras. They are heavily reliant on CGI -

The Golden Age of movies, films such as Star Wars, The Bridge on the River Kwai, The Longest Day, The Godfather series, The Cowboys, Jurassic Park, Goodfellas, The Matrix, The Avengers, Saving Private Ryan, The John Wick series, The Lord of the Rings series, and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure are released
