Nazi authorities started using different measurements of people's physical features in order to determine if they fit the "master" or Aryan race. Teachers would take measurements of their nose and skull length and would record their hair,skin, and eye color. Known as inferiors if their measurements failed to comply with the Aryan standards. -
Hitlers Ideal Race
Hitler was obsessed with ideas about race. In his speeches and writings, he spread his beliefs in racial "purity" and in the superiority of the perfect "Germanic Race". Hitler pronounced that his race must remain pure in order to one day take over the world. Ideal "Aryan" was blond, blue-eyed, and tall. -
Soviet Union
The Soviet Union brought most of the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Europe into its influence as part of the post-World War II new settlement. Winston Churchill said an iron curtain(efforts by USSR to block itself and its satellite states from open contact with non-Soviet-controlled areas) has descended across the Continent. -
Dwight D. Eisenhower
President Eisenhower was the first to refer to the countries in danger of Communist takeover as dominoes. Eisenhower said that if Communists succeeded in taking over the rest of Indochina, local groups would then have the encouragement, material support and momentum to take over Burma, Thailand, Malaya and Indonesia; all of these countries had large popular Communist movements and insurgencies within their borders at the time. -
The Domino Theory
The domino theory was a theory prominent from the 1950s to the 1980s, that speculated that if one country in a region came under the influence of communism, then the surrounding countries would follow in a domino effect. The domino theory was used by successive United States administrations during the Cold War to justify the need for American intervention around the world. -
The Golden Ratio
The Golden Ratio is a number between 1 and 1.618. Pythagoras believed that beauty was associated with the ratio of small integers. Phidias studied phi and applied it to the design of sculptures for the Parthenon. Leonardo believed that some bodily proportions exhibit the golden ratio.
