War With Tripoli
Tripoli, located on the coast of Africa, required money from the U.S. to protect them from pirates at the Mediterranean sea. Tripoli wanted to raise the funds, but Washington refused to pay the new amount. Then a war started between Tripoli and the USA. The outcome of the war made Washington increase the size of the navy. Louisiana Purchase

Proclamation of Neutrality
In the early 1800's, France and Britain were in a war. Britain wanted USA to get involved too. But the USA signed a paper to stay neutral in this war. Great Britain impressed and kidnapped US sailors to prevent trade between France and the US. Image Source: varsitytutors.com -
War of 1812
France and Britain were in a war. Then the USA accused Britain of attacking their warships. After that, the USA signed the Declaration of War. The come out of this war caused the US to have more of a sense of a national identity. Image Source: history.com -
Monroe Doctrine
Latin American countries were gaining independence. Monarchies in Europe threatened the countries to stamp out a representative government. After these events, the Monroe Doctrine was issued for countries to expect a strong response from the USA if the European countries interfere with North or South American countries. Tariff of Abominations
In the early to mid 1800's, taxes were issued on foreign goods so that they would be more expensive. The South ended up paying more for manufactured goods in competition with the North. The South then lost money on raw materials. Image Source: unbiasedamerica.com -
Trail of Tears
In 1830 a business boom caused the removal of the Native Americans on the East Coast. They were moved over to the West. Along the way alot of Native Americans died; 4,000 to be exact. In the outcome America got more land, what they wanted in the first place. Image Source: history.com
