The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act placed a stamp on important documents purchased from the British like , pamphlets, newspapers, and even playing cards due to the seven year war dept. The Colonists would argue that they would only receive orders from their government. The Colonists would have to pay for the tax collectors upkeep. Parliament passed the stamp act in 1766. -
The Townshend acts
This placed tax on imported goods from England. This was how the British Parliament raised money to pay for the war. The Colonists protested against the Townshend acts by stealing and boycotting. -
The Boston Massacre
Colonists were antagonizing the British solders by throwing Snowballs and tricking them into thinking that their commander had said "fire." This was a step of rebelling towards the British but was it a bad idea for the colonists to do so? -
The Committees of Correspondence
Samuel Adams founded the first Committees of Correspondence. The Committees of correspondence were used to keep a good connection throughout the Colonies about the British. Nine of the colonies had representatives but there was no steady amount. Sharing this information helped the colonists have bonds with each other. -
The Boston tea party
60 Colonists dressed in disguises went to the Boston harbor to dump the British tea. They dumped 342 crates of tea but did nothing else. They even swept the floor before they left! -

The First Continental Congress
Representatives from twelve Colonies were in attendance including George Washington, John Adams, Patrick Henry, John Jay, and Samuel Adams. This meeting was held to discuss the current crisis with Britain. They were still loyal to the king and composed a letter addressed to the king stating that they were all still loyal to him and their country. This was one of the first forms of government. -
The Battles of Lexington and Concord
Sixty men against hundreds of trained solders. Free African Americans would join the Colonists in battle. The shot heard around the world. Nobody knows who did it. More than one thousand militiamen showed up to defend their villages. This was the first step of becoming America.
