    Shawn Breaks National High School Record
    Shawn jumped 18 feet 3 and a fourth inches to break the high school national pole vault record that still stands today. Shawn is one of few who cleared 18 feet in high school. (High School Boys records)

    Wins World Championship in Beijing
    To end his 2015 outdoor season Shawn Barber beat the worlds best pole vaulter from France, Renaud Lavillenie, to win Gold in Beijing. Barber is in shock but not suprised that he performed well in a big meet. This is the first time a Canadian pole vaulter has medaled in a championship meet in over 100 years.     After an amazing past outdoor season Shawn still struggled to get over 6 meters. At the 2016 Reno Pole VAult Summit I along with hundreds of other pole vaulters witnessed Shawn jump 6 meters.
