Second Contintental Congress meets
The leaders of the contintental congress meet in Philidelphia. They commision a Continetal Army and make George Washington its' general. Washington's strong leadership keeps the army together during the harest times during the campaign. He was one of the most important poeple in the war. -
Sharpshooters
Congress as a part of the new Continetal congress calls for 10 quotas of Riflemen. Which use the Kentucky Long Rifle. A new technology that spins the bullet which causes dead accuracy. These sharpshooters were extremely important to American sucess. They would Ambush British forces then disappear into the woods. They targeted officers to throw the leadership of the army. -
Bunker Hill
The American Patriots camped at the top of Charleston Hill overlooking the Boston Harbour. The ritish then attack up the hill and the Americans massacre them. The British eventually take the hill but suffer over 1054 deaths or casualties out of the 2300 troops they brought. This shows the Americans they can fight against the British -

Moores Creek Bridge
American Patriots drive loyalists from Moores Creek Bridge, NC. British loyalists suffer another huge loss in the South. Loyalists continue to lose their strength in the war, greatly helping the Americans efforts. -
British Retreat from Boston
British Evacuate Boston, Naval fleet flees to Halifax. This is extremely important because it opens back up one of the biggest and most important cities in the Northeast. -

Thomas Jefferson is asked to draft the Declaration of Independence by Congress. -

Virginia Congress draft and ratify the DEclaration of Rights and then later in the Month the Virginia Constitiution -

Declaration of Independence is Adopted
Congress adopts the Declaration. John Dunlap prints the Dceclaration of Independence known as the "Dunlap Broadsides". 24 copies are known to exisit. The declaration declares America as a free state and lists grievances against the King. -

Benjamin Franklin signs the Treaty of Amity and Commerce and the Treaty of Alliance. With this France allies with the USA in the revolution. Providing a seasoned military and most importantly a Navy. Similar to the Native Americans allying with the British, because it provides a fill for the lacks of the militaries. Von Steuben, a Prussian military officer that was disgraced becasue of his homosexuality, is a tactical genuis that brings superior European tactics and organization to the Continetal Army. His joining the Army during the Winter at Valley Forge literally saves the Americans from defeat after the harsh winter. Von Steuben and Washington were a killer combo. Cornwallis Surenders
Gen. Cornwallis, surrounded by American and Frnech troops on land and sea surrenders his army to the combined forces of the American and French. Marking the beginning of the end of the Revolutionary war. -
Treaty of Paris
America and Great Britain sign the Trety of PAris officially ending the Revolutionary War. Anfdthe US has freedom.
