    Equal chance of life. Kids of all social classes could attend school. This event is part of the most important because it open the door to equality. It was a small step into desegregation.
  • Horace Mann

    Horace Mann
    Father of the common school movement. He was able to make school free. What Horace did was an important step in education because it allow the funds to make public education possible. That eventually led to Common Schools movement, that allow for children of different social backgrounds to have an education.

    Schools were teaching on the majorities languages. Later, it was decided to Americanize everyone by only teaching English.

    Father of the Progressive Education Era. Believed kids learn by doing.

    Segregation ended, African Americans were integrated. Integration was only for students, leaving African American teachers unemployed or demoted. This was a very important event to me because it open the door to desegregation. While the outcome was not as positive as it would liked, it was still important because this would later open the door to integrate does who had been isolated.

    Signed by President Johnson. It stated states would loose funds if they did not enforce desegregation. This even has to be one of the most important ones after the f Brown vs Board of Education. I say this because, had it not been this act is signed I strongly believe segregation would still be happening.

    Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act
    It ensures all children we disabilities get appropriate free education. This also is one of the most important events in education because it finally integrated everyone. I have a sister who is disable and it would be really hurtful to me she was not allow to have an education because of the idea of her perhaps not having the same abilities as the rest of us.

    A report handed to President Regan who believed the school system was doing poorly
  • School Choice Movement

    It allow parents the ability to enroll their children at a school they believe would provide better education to them.
  • No child left behind

    Passed by George W Bush. It made schools accountable for the outcome of the students.
