    Having already replaced their coach three times you would think that they would catch a break, and they do kind of. They start out great winning their first three games and eventually going to 6-3 but, when it really mattered that they won, they lost three times in a row, Just barley missing the opportunity to play in the championship.

    The Steelers Are Born
    The Pittsburgh Pirates make the NFL debut with a frightening 23-2 loss versus the New York Giants. Their first season record is 3 wins, 6 losses, and 2 ties. Otherwise known as 3-6-2. Luckily, their coach is replaced.

    The Steelers make history by signing running back Byron Whizzer White, the first big money player, for about $16,000. However, the average NFL players salary in 2009 was a little over $3,000,000 and the most played player was being played about $16.6 million dollars.

    New Look!
    After 7 years of struggle Art Rooney, the owner of the Pittsburgh pirates, decides to change the name to give them a new identity. At that time Pittsburgh was a mas producer of steel, so he decided to name them the Pittsburgh Steelers. They still are bad and go 2-7-2
  • Not To Shabby.

    The Steelers start off bad losing their first two games. Fortunately, they have a great rookie running back named Bill Dudley who leads them to go 7-4. Their first winning season ever!
  • WWII

    WWII
    WWII has affected the Steeles for the last two years due to everybody having to serve. During this time the Steelers merge with two different teams. They merged with the Philadelphia Eagles to play as the Steagles and go 5-4-1. However, when they merged with the Chicago Cardinals they lost all ten games and basically just got stomped on the entire time. Luckily. in 1945, WWII is wrapping up and the teams go back to normal.
  • A Little Hope

    The Steelers get their first taste of th play-offs with their super star, Billy Dudley, leading the way. But, they get stomped by the familiar Philadelphia Eagles 21-0. They have a decent season overall going 8-5
  • Ouch!

    The Steelers have a losing drought where they just lost season after season from 1948-1957. Despite multiple coaching nothing could have helped. The Pittsburgh Steelers win.
  • 60's!

    60's!
    The Steelers swing into the 60's looking as inconsistent as ever going 5-6-1.

    The Steelers are one of the last teams to add an insignia to their helmet. They put a steel mark, which was used by the company U.S. Steel. It seems to work out for them because they have a solid year, going 9-5.
