  • 1882 Pittsburgh Pirates team formation

    The new owners also signed up several players from American Association teams. One of them highly regared second baseman Lou Bierbauer, who had previously played for the A.A.'S Philadelphia Athletics.
  • 1909 World Series Winner

    The 1909 world series featured the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Detroit Tigers. The pirates won the series in seven game to capture their first championship of the modern major league baseball era. the second championship in the club's history.
  • 1925 second World series winner

    The 1925 World Series the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the defending champions Washington Senators in seven games.
  • 1960- third world series winners

    The Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Yankees a ninth-inning homerun hit by Bill Mazeroski winning the game for the Pirates 10-9.
  • 1970 Three Rivers Stadium

    The stadium opened on July 16th, 1970. When the Pirates played their first game in the 1971 World series .Three Rivers stadium hosted the first world series game played at night.
  • 1971- Fourth World series winner

    The Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles was the first ever world series game scheduled to be played at night. Roberto Clememte the first spanish-speaking player to earn the world series MVP honors.

    Pittsburgh Pirates won against Baltimore Orioles . Winning their fifth world series.

    The Pirates has their 17th straight losing season, that steak extended to 20 consecutives seasons until it was broke in 2013
  • 2015- Pirates won 98 games

    Pittsburgh Pirates best season since the bonds era and the second most wins in the Major League that year.
