When Helen was 19 months she fell ill and her illness robbed her of her sight and hearing. Even with her disabilities, Helen learned hundreds of words and ended up graduating high school and getting her college degree.
To this day, people are inspired by Helen. She taught so many people that nothing can stand in your way. -
Walt Disney was born
Walt Disney created the charachter Mickey Mouse. He eventually started a franchise, Disney.
Disney to this day inspires many people. -
Model T was introduced
Henry Ford was an industrulist and was the founde of the Ford Motor Company. He introduced the Model T in 1908, which is known as the first car. He invented the assembly line and the concept of mass production. The assembly line and mass production are concepts we use in our society's industries to this very day. -
Amelia Earhart crosses the Atlantic
Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly an airplane across the Atlantic Ocean.
She disappeared during her attempt to fly around the world.
She inspired many woman to break down boundries and was a pioneering aviator. -
Rosa Parks gets arrested
Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat to a white person on a public bus. In 1955, African Americans could only sit in the back of the bus. A white male wanted her spot and she refused. She was arrested and spent one night in jail.
Her actions created demands from African Americans asking for better treatment. -
"I Have a Dream"
Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights activist. In 1963, he delivered his famous speech to 250,000 people.
MLK also recieved the Nobel Peace Prize.
MLK was shot in 1968.
Martin Luther King Jr. is still a symbol for hope and freedom in America.
