John Reynella arrives

Willunga and McLaren Vale established
Aborigines refered to this as the place of 'green trees'. Colonists started growing cereal crops and then later began making wine and dried fruits. -
John Reynella settels in
He settled at Reynella farm producing potatoes and cereal crops but best known for his wine making. By 1841 Reynell planted out the first portion of his vineyard. This is recorded as South Australia's first ever vinyard. -
