First Colonizing Mission
Samuel De Champlain led the first colonizing mission to Acadia.
Pierre De Monts was granted a 10 year fur monopoly from King Henry the IV to bring 60 colonists to Acadia per year. Since then, the settlers grew crops with the help of the Aboriginals, attempted to convert them to the Catholic religion, wrote books and dictionaries, became "Coureurs De Bois" to aquire for, and have since then contributed to the Canadian industry and history. -
