A history of me and games

  • Crash Bandicoot

One of the earliest games I can remember playing. I would play when I visited my dad's house, trying desperately to make any progress on either this or Gex: Enter the Gecko
Naughty Dog 1996, Crash Bandicoot, video game, Playstation One, Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Spyro Year of the Dragon

I remember my mum bought this for me and my cousin, and we played it on my Grandad's playstation. I never finished it, but my cousin did.
Insomniac Games 2000, Spyro: Year of the Dragon, video game, Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Jak 2

The first game I really played on the PS2. I wasn't great at it, but I really got invested in the characters, and the fact I could wander around the world and just mess around in it.
Naughty Dog 2003, Jak II: Renegade, video game, Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Okami

A game I truly fell in love with, from story to art to gameplay. Even if the ghost ship traumatized me.
Clover Studio, Okami, video game, Capcom
  • Pokemon Diamond

look I have 400 hours in this particular game, and I played the other ones so much you can't question me. Turtwig is best starter.
Game Freak 2007, Pokemon Diamond, video game, Nintendo
  • Final Fantasy X

A game my mum originally had when I got Jak 2, I always saw her play it and was interested in the style (it would be one of my first JRPG's I think). This was one of the first games that really made me think about games and storytelling, and I've now bought it on several platforms and done multiple playthroughs
Square Product Development Division 1 2001, Final Fantasy X, Video game, JP: Square, NA: Square Electronic Arts, PAL: Sony Computer Entertainment
  • World of Warcraft

The first mmo I played, this shaped my teen years. I played with my mum, and she eventually met her husband on here through a guild. I wouldn't be where I am today without this game.
Blizzard Entertainment 2004, World of Warcraft, Video game, Blizzard Entertainment
  • Uncharted 2

My first Uncharted Game, and my first of the new Naughty Dog Titles since the Jak series. I loved the way Drake spoke, and although I sucked at the gameplay, the character interactions won me over.
Naughty Dog 2009, Uncharted 2, Video game, Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Dark Souls

The first really hard game I played. It made me be strategic, and it made me love PVP content. FromSoftware 2011, Dark Souls, video game, Namco Bandai Games, JP: FromSoftware
  • The Last of Us

A Naughty Dog game that cut me deep. It just really made me think, with the themes it tackled and its storytelling. It was just really good.
Naughty Dog 2013, The Last of Us, video game, Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Team Fortress 2

I played this a lot as a casual user, but then I found a private Australian server that became my go-to. I made friends there, and some of them I'm still in contact with, and have met. It really was something.
Valve 2007, Team Fortress 2, video game, Valve
  • Pyre

A game by Supergiant Games that I followed from announcement to release. I played it through 7 times trying out different endings, and let it consume my life for a good year. It really was quite the time.
