The English were searching for gold, so the king sent people over to the Americas. The settlers had a hard time there because they were not prepared for a long stay. -

Seperatists from England established a squatter colony in Mass. Bay. The Pilgrims had a hard time during the first winter, but later on got help from Squanto and tribe of Indians. -

Harvard was founded in New England. The Puritans founded the college because the cared about education -
End of King Phillip's War.
King Phillip was an intertribal leader among certain Indian tribes in New England. He was enrgaed with the settlers taking the land and sending Indians farther west, so he alligned himself with other tribes and attacked the colonists. The colonists fought back and managed to cease the threat of New England Indians. -
Founding of Pennyslavania
Williiam Penn, a English Quaker, founded Pennyslavania. He got the land because the king was in debt to his father. Pennyslavannia was the most religiously tolerant colony. They event treated the Indians with respect. -
First American Newspaper
The first American newspaper, The Boston Newsletter, is created. -

The Great Awakening was a period in America where there was religious revival. George Whitfield and Jonathon Edwards were great leaders of the movement. -
"Sinners of the Hand of An Angry God"
Jonathon Winthrop, one of the greatest leaders of the Great Awakening, gave his most famous sermon. Many people came and heard his six hour sermon. -

It was the fourth and war fought between many countries. It started in America. French allied themselves with Navtive Americans. England and the colonies come out victorious. -
Boston Tea Party
Loads of Boston Tea is dumped in to the harbor; it was a way of protesting against British taxes. -
Declaration of Independence is signed
The Declaration of Independence is signed, declaring America it's own country. -
British defeat at Yorktown
The British were defeated at Yorktown in 1781 and ended the American Revolution -
U.S. Constitution is approved
After the war had ended, men like Ben Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and George Washington worked on a new government. The Constitution was made 4 months later.
