Lived 2 million years ago. Had a bigger brain than Lucy. Started to make tools. -
1802 Homo Erectus
Lived 1.8 million years ago. Has a bigger brain than the Homo Habilis. Is an ominivore. Much taller than Lucy and the Homo Habilis. The Homo Erectus gained control of fire. -
1803 Neaderthals
Lived approximently 500,000 years ago. The neaderthals buried their dead and started to develope feelings. Lastly Neaderthals understood medicine. -
1804 Homo Sapiens Sapiens
Homo Sapiens Sapiens are modern humans and closely resembels them (humans). Homo Sapiens Sapiens are also omnivores and their tools are more sophisticated. These modern humans mastered fire and lived in communities. Lastly they did thing like agriculture. -
1805: Rise of the Kingdom of Sumer
Approx. 2900 BCE. The government of Sumer was a monarchy. Kings in ancient Sumer were choosen by the gods. -
1806: The Epic of Gilgamesh
The exact date of the writing is unknown. Gilgamesh was the king of the city of Uruk. Gilgamesh is known as an epic hero. Gilgamesh defeated the bull of heaven and humbaba but in his last quest traveled to his ancestor to get eturnal life. -
1807: Abraham
Approx. 1900BCE. Abraham was monothestic. He worshiped one God who told he what to do. Abraham traveled long and far and had one son who he did not have until he was 90 years old. -
1808: Hammurabi’s Code
1792-1750 BCE. Hammurabi was throned in 1792 BCE. Hammurabi was well known for his code of laws. Hammurabi's code of laws made it fair for everyone that lives in Babylonia like his eye for an eye laws. -
1809: Joseph goes to Egypt and the Israelites follow
Approx. 1700-1280 BCE. Joseph was Jacob's favorite son. Jacob is Abraham's grandson. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers then soon after became prime minister of Egypt. When famine hit Palestine where his family lived he moved the Israelites to Egypt. -
1810: Moses, the Exodus from Egypt, and the Ten Commandments
Approx. 1280-1240 BCE. When all the Jews were enslaved in Egypt Rames the Pharaoh had all male Jewish babies killed. Moses' mother put Moses in a basket that flowed down a river and he was founded and raised by tthe Pharaoh's daughter. Moses made the ten commandments on Mount Sinai. These ten commandments explained how people should relate God and how people should relate to each other. -
1811: The Time of the Judges/The Time Before Kings
Approx. the middle of the 13th century to the middle of the 11th century BCE. Deborah is a judge who hears all the complaints the people had. Ruth who lived before the kings was very poor. Ruth lived with her mother and ate scraps she would find ater harvest. Soon after that she gets married with David's great grandfather and becomes David's great grandmother. -
1812: The Reign of David
Approx. 1013-973 BCE. David was one day visting his brothers in the army when he hears Glaight's challenge. David steps up and decides to challenge Glaight in a battle. David said all he needed was God. David picks up a stick and some smooth rocks. When the battle started David made a weapon with the sticks and rocks and flings it so hard it hits Glaight in the center of his head and dies. Soon after David becomes famous, a king and unites all of the cities. -
1813: Elijah
Approx. 875-853 BCE. Elijah lived during a drought in the city that he lived in. God calls onto Elijah and tells him to go to the desert where he eats. after that Elijah goes to a different city where he tells people about God. When the king of that city herd about this he challenged him. Elijah wins the challenge with God's help and proved that there is only one God. -
1815: Siege of Jerusalem
587 BCE. Revolted against Nebuchadnezzar. Jerusalem was a dominant city and was ruled by a feared king. The city of Jerusalem was also in war. -
1814: Siege of Lachish
701 BCE.Lachish is about 25 miles south west of Jerusalem. Lachish was one of the victims of the war. Lachish was an ideal place of trade and agriculture but had no natural bonderies. -
1816: Indus Valley Civilizations
In 2000 BCE there lived people called the Indus people or Dravidians. The Indus people had put a great importance in cleanliness or ritual bathing. -
1817: The Aryan Invasion and the Vedas
In 1700 BCE The Indus tribe was invaded by the Aryans. The Aryans were not agricultural and made bronze weapons. -
1818: The Ascetics and the Upanishads
In 700-500 BCE the Aryans created a caste system that is still used in Hindu society.
