democritus
The theory of Democritus and Leucippus held that everything is composed of "atoms", which are physically, but not geometrically, indivisible; that between atoms, there lies empty space; that atoms are indestructible; have always been, and always will be, in motion; that there are an infinite number of atoms, and kinds of atoms, which differ in shape, and size. Of the mass of atoms, Democritus said "The more any indivisible exceeds, the heavier it is. -
dalton
Dalton’s Atomic Theory and would become one of the cornerstones of modern physics and chemistry. Dalton came up with this theory as a result of his research into gases. In the course of this research, he discovered that certain gases could only be combined in certain proportions, even if two different compounds shared the same common element or group of elements. -
thomson
Thomson discovered the electron by experimenting with a Crookes, or cathode ray, tube. He demonstrated that cathode rays were negatively charged. In addition, he also studied positively charged particles in neon gas. -
rutherford
discovered it was made of subatomic particles. Used mathmatical models.electrons rotate around the nucleus. -
bohr
He discovered that the electrons and neutrons rotate around the nucleus. He discovered the method is the Quantum Theory. Thought the atom looked like the solar system. -
heisenberg and schrodinger
Discovered it was made of hydrogens. Had a Quantum Mechanics method.
