New Campus Funding
Under Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal Works Progress Administration, Phoenix Junior College receives $750,000 for a new campus. The new campus is relocated at 15th Avenue and Thomas Road on 52 acres of farmland. -

Phoenix Junior College becomes the flagship of the Maricopa County Junior College District
After approval by the Arizona Legislature and Maricopa voters, the Maricopa County Junior College District is created. Phoenix College becomes the flagship for the new entity. -

Previously known as the Maricopa County Junior College District, the Board of Governors decide to rename the new system. -

The Flagship of MCCCD Remains
Still the flagship of the MCCCD, Phoenix College serves 28,000 students, maintains 145 residential faculty, and 700 adjuncts. More than 150 degree and certificate programs are offered to students locally, nationally, and to those from as many as 100 countries.
