Poeple have seen visuals that allow series of pictures to look like movements when put together. Thaumatrope was created as an optical allusion used before film was created to show "the persistence of vision" -
Oldest photograph
Taken by Joseph Nicephore Niepce. Used a camera obscura device which captured a scene from the sunlight. It was called heliography -
Fantascope
Joseph Plateau invented this. it was a kind of toy/device that simulated motion. Series of separate pictures of motion were placed in this, and when spun or rotated in front of a mirror, a person looking through the slots could see movement. -
First movie making device
A zoopraxiscope was created the allusion of movement or animation. It projected images in a rapid display onto a screen from photos on a rotating glass disk. -
Chronophotography
Eadweard Muybridge published "The Horse in Motion". He recorded the movements of a galloping horse. He used a multiple set of cameras to do this. He then concluded that all four of the horse's feet were off the ground at the same time due to his picture evidence. -
"Inventor of Cinema"
Marey created a "photographic gun" which could take 12 pictures per second of animals or humans. Could record multiple images of subjects movement on the same camera plate. -

This was the first motion picture ever created on photographic film in the united states. it was filmed with a system using tiny mages that rolled around a cylinder. -

Kinescope was made as a coin operated movie. People put a coin inside of it and watch a short continuous loop of film. These were placed in carnivals. -

Made in the Black Maria, they filmed a mans sneeze and published it. it was called Fred Ott's Sneeze. Noted as the first medium close up. -

Higher costs of everything. Movie production and famous actors cost millions of dollars. Number of drive ins started to decline because they couldnt handle special effects. -
Change and Innovation
DVD sales became popular exceeding VHS tapes. Netflix became first subscription service to have ad free legal video streaming of movies directly ont a persons computer screen.
