It declared how people will become independant from britain, and why they are separating from britain. Explains how every man was created equal. Part one is talking about how they have to "respect" other people's opinions. States the Premble, and how all men are created equal. The affects of the declaration of independance ensured all who have signed it will be executed or killed for treason. It also was the beginning of a new country. -

Retreat From New York
The Middle states. George Washington and his army retreated during both encounters with the british at Long Island. Nathon Hale was a soldier for the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War; He was captured by the british and was executed. The moral for the patriots fighting for freedom at this time was low, very low; people were doubting themselves. -
Crossing the Deleware 1776
The target was the Hessian-held town of Trenton just across the deleware River. Hessians guarded Trenton, and Hessions are people that fight for other countries for money or payment; also known as a merconary. The americans took them by surprise and won the battle, because the Hessians were tired from eating turkey for christmas, they were then forced to surrender. -
The Battle of Saratoga 1777
The british's goal was to capture the north. First, British General John Burgoyne would lead 8,000 troops from
Canada. Barry St. Leger would direct his troops east from Lake Ontario, and General Howe would
move his troops north from New York City, where all three would meet at Albany to destroy the
Rebel armies. Because they failed to get to Albany in time. Burgoyne and his troops were forced to flee, then 10 days later, he was forced to surrender. -
Velley Forge Winter 1777-1778
Velley Forge is in Pennsylvania. The british were in philidelphia. around 1,100 american soldiers were not fed well, not dressed well, or not housed. The americans won the battle. -

So the french could know whether or not they could win or not. France and America became the first to win a war against the british army and navy. Baron Friedrich von Steuben was a french officer, but he was an american navy captain. -

They sent George Rogers Clark and a militia force. Yes, they caught the british and the native americans off guard. Americans won adn the native amrericans and the british surrendered. -

took the city of savannah, and capture charles town in carolina. guerrillas tactic it basically hit-and-run tactic.. Francis Marion was known as the Swamp Fox. The loyalists wondered the back country and burned patriot farms. -

spain governed Louisiana, the land wesr of the mississippi stretching as far north as canada.. they would get back florida.money, munitions, ship safe refuge in New Orleans. became second official ally.
