The watergate scandal was an American political scandal. The security guards caught some of burglars trying to get into the Democratic Party Headquarters. This all caused the resignation of President Richard Nixon in 1974 -
Richard Nixion
Nixion was elected president and he won by a lot. He wanted to get the US headed in a good direction and that is just what he did. -
Saigon Falls
Southeren Vietnamese wanted out of Vietnam. The Americans wanted to help them get out of there before they got hurt. War had really started after bombs dropped on the boats. -
Ronald Reagan President
Reagan took over after Jimmy Carter as president. He had a major inpact as president. He changed the relationship between the US and Soviets. -
AIDS
AIDS was a big deal. It was killing more people then the amount in Vietnam. When Magic Johnson got AIDS and talked about it everyone was suddenly interested because he was a famous athlete that has the scary HIV virus. -
The Cold War
Gorbachev and Reagan signed the INF treaty. The cold war was going on at this point. He was a man from Russia that was hear to visit Reagan. -
The Challenger
This space shuttle had exploded just two minutes after take off. The shuttle had a teacher and six regular astronauts. -
Tiananmen Square
The square is in Beijing. A Chinese man stood in front of a line of tanks alone, the only way the tanks could proceed was to run him over. This was all over a pro-democracy movement. -
Desert Storm
Saddam had invade Kuwait. The soilders didn't even know where they were. They had fighted for a straight 24 hours. They had captures 18,000 prisioners and had completed all of the days objectives. -
Los Angeles/Rodney King Riots
Rodney King was on the news and asked eveyone to get along. He was a little choked up you could tell. Racism was still a big problem. White folks were still beating up blacks and causing major injuries. -
Oklahoma City
Massive car bomb exploded outside a federal building killing and injuring adults and children. Timothy Mcveigh was the suspect for the bomb. Everyone was shocked because he was a home grown terrorist. He had done this because he was angry at the federal government. One little girl, Baylee, became a very well known baby because of the moment the police officer found Baylee and brought her to the fire fighter. People responed to this and really are thankful that their child is alive. -
Women
It was a boy and men world but now the women are stepping up. Women didn't not get the recognition that they deserved. Women were the best debaters on the debate team but then after high school it all disappeared. Women only got half the salary as the men did when they worked and did the same thing in the same department. -
Bush becomes President
Bush won the presidency by only a few votes. Americans wanted him to be the man in charge. -
9/11
This day was scary for the people in the United States, we were beign attacked. Terrorists had directed their planes into the World Trade Center. Also an attack in Washington DC and in Pittsburgh. Many people in and around the attacks were killed. Today people are still scared. -
Iraq
Saddum was hated by the world. He was wanted by everyone. The United States began war with Iraq because they wanted him.
