Britain and France at the Munich Conference appease Hitler by giving into his demands for the Sudetenland and parts of Czechoslovakia.This event is important because it shows how much Britain and France wanted peace and would give in to all of Hitler's demands. Also how deceiving Germany is because Hitler had rebuilt his army in the 10 years of peace and started war. -

Italy declares war on France and Britain.This event is important because it shows how Benito's pride and ego gets in the way of taking the easy way out. Britain and France were willing to give Italy what they needed so they could stay neutral but yet Benito turned down the offer and declared war. -

A battle between Britain and Germany for control of airspace over Great Britain, Germany and the English Channel. This event was important because it was the first battle in history fought in the air and not on the ground. -

The U.S bombed Tokyo as a counter to Pearl Harbor known as Doolittle's Raid.This event is important because it was the first air operation to strike the Japanese archipelago (a group of islands). -

The Battle of the Coral Sea was fought by carrier aircraft (planes which take off and land on battleships) and resulted in a draw on both sides. This event was important because the Allies were encouraged and gained strength from this battle. -
Battle of Midway ~Pacific
The Battle of Midway was the Japanese attack of U.S fleet st Midway Island. This event became the most important battle in the Pacific and is a turning point in the war because all of the Japanese aircraft carriers and over 253 battle planes were destroyed. -

The Battle of Guadalcanal was for American possession of the Guadalcanal air base and became a turning point in the war. When the Japanese arrived they were badly outnumbered.This event was important because America needed control of the sea lines of communication between the United States and Australia. -

Axis Forces surrender in Tunisia ending the North African campaign. Materials such as oil were very valuable to the Axis Powers and were found in the Middle East and Asia. This event is important because the surrender removed the threat to the oilfields from the Axis Forces. -

The battle of Iwo Jima was when american marines landed on Iwo Jima. This battle was important to the U.S because they can use the island as air base for long-range bombing against Japan. The U.S resulted in winning the battle.
