Eddie Van Halen's father Jan Van Halen, was a Dutch jazz pianist,clarinetist, and saxophonist.On 1962 Edward's family moved to the United States where his brother Alex Van Halen and him would go to an elementary school,it was a segregated elementary school since the boys didn't know how to speak English.The two brothers would get bullied by white American students constantly. -

At the Age of Six Edward started to learn piano,he would get lessons for piano and would be commuting across the bay of California to Los angeles. Between 1964-1967 Edward won annual piano contests at long beach city college.His parents wanted him and his brother to one day become professional pianist,but Edward was into rock music. -

Eddie always had a good relationship with the band members of well known band "KISS" , in 1982 Kiss was going to release an album called "Creatures of the Night", during it's production Eddie had stopped by to their studio to catch up on their status,while he was blown away buy some of the songs,he mentioned his interest in keyboards which confused the Kiss band members since electric rock and Keyboard music don't always sound too sweet.Eddie still had this interest and decided to keep that. -
