He was elected 16th presedint of the United States over a deeply divided democratic party. He only recieved 40 percent of the popular vote which angered the south even though he said he would not end slavery. -
Confederate States Formation
Alot of the states from the south did not like the changes being made by lincoln and wanted to rebel by leaving the union and creating the Confederate states of America. -
Attack of Fort Sumter
Confederate forces at charlestown, South Carolina demanded the soldiers to surrender of the union Garrison of Fort Sumter, Charleston. Garrison refused. Confederate batteries then opened fire on the fort which could not reply effectively. Also, known for sparking the Civil War. -
First Battle of Bull Run
first major conflict of the civil war. the union was under pressure to stop the souths rebellion. they had met southern troops at manassas. genral jackson held his groundand stopped union forces, this is the battle where jackson got his nickname stone wall! -
