When Lincoln sent supplies to the Fort, he warned the state in advance, trying to avoid hostilities. -
West Virginia was colonized
People didn’t want to separate like the others did, so the created a new state. -
1st Battle of the Bull Run
General Irvin McDowell advanced on Confederate troops at Manassas Junction, Virginia. -
Battle of the Shiloh
Most confederate troops were defeated at the end of the day, they tried to flee in the morning but the federal forces wouldn’t let them. -
“Stonewall” Jackson defeats Union forces
Commanded forces in the Shenandoah Valley and in late March attacked the Union troops. -
1st Conscription Act
Any men that were between 20 and 45 could be called for military, the new law. -
Battle of the Chancellorsville
Union leader General Hooker crossed the Rappahannock River to attack General Lee’s forces, but failed. -
Battle at the Cold Harbor
General Grant attacked Confederate forces and lost over 7,000 men within 20 minutes. -
Lincoln is Re-Elected
The Republicans voted for him to be president again and the North celebrated with a party.
