Rosa Parks was ona bus, sitting in a seat, when a white man asked her to move so he could sit where she was. Instead of getting up like she was expected to, she kindly said no to the man. She was known as the "the first lady of civl rights" because of her actions. -
Montgomery Bus Boycott
Because of the Rosa Parks act, buses were being boycotted by the black commmunity causing Supreme Court to declare that segregrated buses are unconstitutional. -
Freedom Riders Bus Bombing
Freedom Riders road into Anniston, Alabama and were raided by 200 angry white people. The tires of the bus were slashed and one of the men threw a bomb into the bus. The riders almost didn't escape in time. Once they got off the bus, they were beaten by the 200 people waiting for them. -
