Sugar Act
The Sugar Act had been passed to raise money from the colonies for Britain by the English Parliament. The English Parliament had set duties on molasses and sugar being imported by colonists.This was the First act to pass espaically to raise money in the colonies. -
Commitees Of Correspondence
Samual Adams was thge one that had found commitees of correspondence. Each committee got in touch with other towns and colonies. When they got together, the member had shared ideas and information about new British Laws and ways to challenge them. -
Stamp Act Of 1765
Prime Minister Grenville had proposed the idea of The Stamp Act Of 1765. This act required colonists to pay for stamps or a seal, when they had brought paper items. The Stamp Act had to be paid on legal documents, licences, newspaper, pamphlets and sometimes playing cards.However some colonists refuse to pay or buy stamps and end up being fined or sent to jail. -
Sons Of liberty
The Sons Of Liberty was a secret society formed by the colonists.Samual Adams helped organize the group in Boston. However , sometimes the group used violence to scare tax collectors. -
Townshed Acts
In June 1767, The Townshed Act was passed by the parliament.These acts had duties on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. However, to enforce the act , British official had used writs of assistance.This allowed tax collectors to search for smuggled goods.However, colonists werent happy about th new law because they thought that, it took power away from the colonial goverment. -
The Boston Massacre
This event happened on March 5, 1770. During the event, 5 people got killed.Samuel Adams and other protesters had quickly spread the story about the shooting.Paul Revere, however created a color print called "The Bloody Masscre perpetrated in King Streets." -
Tea Act
The Tea Act was passed by the Parliament.Which allowed the British East India Company to sell tea directly to the colonists.However many colonial merchants and smugglers had feared that the British's cheap tea would put them out of business. -
Boston Tea Party
On December 16, 1773, that night, the colonists dressed as Indians and sneaked onto the tea-filled ships. However , they ended up dumping over 340 tea chests into Boston Harbor. Afterwards the streets echoed" Boston Harbour is a teapot tonight." -
Interable Act
The Colonists made these laws In Spring of 1774. However these laws were made when the colonists passed the Coercive Acts. However,This law increased peoples anger st Britain.One of the laws was that ,Boston Harbour was until Boston paid for the ruined tea. -
Fisrt Continental Congress
The First Continental Congress met in Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia, from September 5, 1774 until October 26, 1774. The meeting was called in response to acts of the British Parliament, collectively known in the Colonies as the Intolerable Acts.
