Gennifer Flowers
During the 1992 election, news broke of an affair between Clinton and a singer, Gennifer Flowers. Clinton denied it but eventually admitted to it years later. -
"Travelgate"
In 1993, President Clinton fired 7 White House employees in favor of hiring friends and relatives. The employees were fired for no reason and eventually Clinton had the FBI investigate the employees to portray a negative image of them to the press. -
Vince Foster
On July 20th, 1993, Vince Foster, the deputy White House counsel under Clinton committed suicide. Entry to Foster's office was delayed and various files came up missing. -
Paula Jones
On May 6th, 1994, Paula Jones sued Clinton for sexual harassment for Clinton reportedly exposing himself to her in 1991. This led to Clinton's impeachment and the lawsuit was settled in 1998 in which Clinton had to pay $850,000 to Jones. -
David Watkins
In 1994, David Watkins, a Clinton aide who had worked with Clinton since he started in politics, was fired for using a military helicopter to take him to golf courses. Each trip was estimated to cost the Americna people over $13,000. -
Jorge Cabrera
In November of 1999, Jorge Cabrera, a two time convicted drug smuggler, paid $20,000 to the Clinton campaign and gained access to the White House. A few months later he was arrested with 6,000 pounds of cocaine in Miami, FL. -
Whitewater Records
In January of 1996, Whitewater files that had been missing since the suicide of Vince Foster suddenly appeared on a table in the White House. It was unknown how they got there but Clinton's wife, Hillary, had her fingerprints on them. -
Filegate
In June of 1996, hundreds of high level FBI files on Republicans were found in the White House. The Clinton's denied any involvement and were eventually cleared in 2010. -
Lincoln Bedroom
In February of 1997, news broke of Clinton allowing contributors to stay in the Lincoln Bedroom, but only after they contributed a large sum of money to his campaign. Over $5.4 million was raised during this time. -
Monica Lewinsky
One of the more famous scandals of the Clinton years involved the case of Monica Lewinsky. Lewinsky was dragged into the Paula Jones case and information regarding relations with Clinton came to light. This, in addition to Jones, led to the Clinton impeachment. -
Kathleen Willey
In 1998, Kathleen Willey, a major supporter of Clinton and fellow Democrat, accused Clinton of fondling and kissing her in 1993. Willey eventually testified in the Jones case. -
Impeachment Trial
In January of 1999, the Clinton impeachment trial began. The impeachment trial was in reference to many of the events already outlined as well as accusations of perjury during the Jones case and obstruction of justice. Clinton became only the 2nd President to be impeached (Andrew Johnson the 1st). -
Acquitted
Despite being impeached by the House, the trial in the Senate led to a vote of 55-45 on the perjury charge and 50-50 on the obstruction charge. Due to this, Clinton was acquitted on all charges and remained in office until Jan. 20, 2001 when George W. Bush took over the next day. -
Pardons
Clinton gave several controversial pardons during his presidency but on his last day in office he pardoned 140 people who had numerous convictions for drugs, weapons, and many other charges.
