Amy’s birth
She was born in Southgate, London. She belonged to a Jewish family. Not only Amy’s maternal uncles were professional jazz musicians but also her paternal grandmother was a jazz vocalist. -
Beginning of his career
She bought her first guitar when she was 14 and began writing music one year later. Amy started singing in several music bands and signed her first contract with a management company in 2002. -
Frank
Her first album was released on October and produced by Salaam Remi. It was influenced by jazz and apart from two covers, Amy wrote every song. This album reached the UK charts and it was nominated for the Brit awards 2004. -
Back to Black
Her second album was released in the UK on 30 October, it went to number one on the UK Albums Chart for two weeks in January 2007. In the US became number seven on the Billboard 200. -
Personal life
Amy was plagued by drug and alcohol addiction. She got married with Blake Fielder-Civil. Due to her problem with drugs, she was in rehab several times. -
Awards
She received the award for British Female Solo Artist at the 2007 Brit Awards. She won five Grammys in 2008 and became the first British woman to win five Grammys. -
Death
She died of alcohol poisoning at the age of 27. Her body was found in her Camden’s apartment by her bodyguard. After her death, Back to Black became the UK’s best-selling album of the 21s century.
