Missouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise is a compromise that henry clay proposed to the union. Missouri wanted to join the union as a slave state, but if Missouri joined the union as a slave state the slave states and the Free states wouldn’t be equal any more. So, henry clay suggested the Missouri compromise which said, let Missouri join the union as a slave state but, let Maine as a free state so the slave states and the Free states will be equal again. -
Underground Railroad
The Underground Railroad was founded around the early 1850s. This was right around Harriet Tubman’s escape to the north where she would be free. The Underground Railroad was a path that led to freedom. Harriet soon became a conductor of the Underground Railroad. -
Compromise of 1850
Compromise of 1850 was a compromise that was proposed by Henry Clay, to please the north the congress said in Washington D.C. there is to be no more slavery. To please the south they made the fugitive slave act, the fugitive slave act was an act that was when one of the northerners found a slave they were to send the slave back. -
Kanas-Nebraska Act
The Kanas-Nebraska Act was an act that was between, Kanas, and Nebraska. The problem was that Nebraska and Kansas got to choose if they wanted to be anti-slavery or pro-slavery. Then the anti- slavery thought they should have a union of their own so they made the Confederate States of America. -
Dred Scott Decision
The Dred Scott decision was founded in 1857. The Dred Scott decision was a lot of decisions for Dred Scott because, Dred Scott’s owner moved to Missouri, where slavery was permitted. So Dred Scott became a free man were slavery wasn’t permitted. In the end Dred Scott got to experience a free life in the north. -
The Secession
The Secession happened on December 24, 1860. What happened was that South Carolina wanted to make their own union, with their own federal government. Soon Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, and Virginia soon followed South Carolina’s lead. Then the north started to play by the rules and said “There is no legal way for you to make your own union.” The north tried everything and the only way to settle this was war.
