In 241 B.C the first Punic war ends, and no side really wins. Carthage pays a fine to Rome and gives up Sicily. Hamilcar (Hannibles father) dies, leaving Hannible in charge of the troops. A treaty is signed that says that Carthage will not expand it's emire north of the river Ebro in Spain. -

In 238 B.C Rome takes control of Corsica, after the Carthagenian hired military rebels. This angers the Carthagnians, so they go to Spain to set up colonies, and build an army to attach Rome with. -
Rome Attacks Carthage
In 149 B.C Rome becomes suspicious of a recovering Carthage, and tells them to abandon their city, and go inland to North Africa, but they refused. So Rome goes and atacks the City. -
