Hideki Tojo became the prime minister of japan and he also held positions of commerce minister, home minister, and foriegn minister. He was the one who orchestrated the attack on pearl harbor . During this period, Japan's peaceful commercial relations were successively obstructed, primarily by the American rupture of commercial relations, and this was a grave threat to the survival of Japan. -
Doolittle Raids
The Doolittle Raid was the firebombing of Tokyo by America. This event was an answer to the Japanese attack on Pearl harbor and very risky for the pilots who were unable to fly back after their raid and were forced to land in China. China was under Japanese control at the time. Several of the Doolittle men were captured and the ones who evaded capture were hunted ferverously by the Japanese Army to atone for their gambit. -

This battle was one of the most important for America in the Pacific. The battle left the Japanese fleet damaged beyond repair. The american code breakers had sent out false orders saying that the base was low on supplies, luring in the Japanese fleet. The american codebreakers determined that the Japanese would attack on either the 4th or the 5th of June which gave the Amarican Navy a huge advantage over the Japanese from the start. The battle resulted in the loss of much of the Japanese fleet. -
