King Ernest Augustus of Hanover annulled the liberal constitution which was implemented 1833. The Göttingen Seven (7 professors of the university including the Brothers Grimm) raised a protest against the abrogation. All professors lost their positions, Jacob Grimm and two others were deported. Jacob went back to Kassel. Wilhelm & his family followed soon after. -
