Parris finds Abigail, his daughter Betty, and other girls dancing in the woods around a cauldron. -
Reverend Hale of Beverly enters
Parris has Reverend Hale come to his home to check his daughter Betty, who he believes to be possesed. Hale is an expert in everything related to Satan. -
Tituba
Tituba is accused of being a witch, but she says whenever the devil comes to her it's always with Sarah Good and Goody Osburn. Then Abigail speaks up and says that she saw Bridget Bishop with the devil. Betty, after being silent all day, then chimes in and says that she say George Jacobs and Goody Howe with him as well. -

The Crucible

John Proctor
John Proctor gets back home after a long night of planting on the forest edge to find that his servant Mary Warren has disobeyed him and gone to Salem. His wife, Elizabeth Proctor, tells him that Mary says she's an official of the court. -
Mary Warren
Mary Warren comes back from court in Salem. She gives a doll, that she made during the court, to Elizabeth in hopes to make peace with the fact that she disobeyed their orders and left. She tells them that Elizabeth was accused for witchcraft, but Mary defended her. -
Reverend Hale
Reverend Hale stops by the Proctor's house late at night to ask them some questions. While he is asking them some things, the sheriff comes to the house with a warrant for the arrest of Elizabeth Proctor. He claims that Abigail, while sittind at her table, was stricken with a great pain in her side. They found the root of the pain to be a needle in her side. The doll Mary Warren gave to Elizabeth had a needle in it's side, which they used as proof. -
John and Mary
After Elizabeth is arrested John get Mary and tells her to to tell the sheriff how Elizabeth got the doll. Elizabeth is still arrested, so John forces Mary to go to court with him the next day and tell the officials that the girls have been lying about everything to do with the witches. -
Danforth
Danforth is the judge in the courtroom, but he seems a little one sided the entire time. Everytime someone comes to defend themselves or someone else Parris says they're trying to overthrow the court. -
Mary in the courtroom
John gets Mary to tell the court that everything has been a lie. Even hearing it from her, they still don't really believe her. -
Abigail and others
Abigail is bought into the courtroom to confirm what Mary has said. She denies everything and says that everything they've said about the witches is real. -
Yellow Bird
Abigail then begin to complain about a yellow bird and Mary sending her spirit out on them. They copy everything Mary says to the point that she is in tears. After realizing that she won't win this battle Mary goes back to Abigail and the other girls side. She says that John Proctor was with the devil and he forced her to lie. -
Jail
After Mary leaves him, John Proctor has given up. He states that God is dead which results in him being arrested. -
Reverend Hale
Its the day that Proctor is to be hanged, and Hale is at the jailhouse trying to get people to confess to being with the devil only to save their lives. He doesn't believe in what's happening but he wishes to keep everyone from being killed for nothing. -
John Proctor
They get Proctor's wife to try and get him to confess and it works until Danforth wants him to sign a paper saying that he was with the devil. John Proctor refuses saying that he's already sold them his soul and to let him keep his good name. After he refuses to sign they take him out to be hanged and the play ends.
