Henry married Anne of Cleves, but soon anulled the marriage in July because he thought she was ugly.

Marriage to Catherine Howard

Henry married the pretty young woman in 1540, the same month as his divorce from Anne of Cleves. Catherine was only 17 at the time.

Catherine Howard Executed

After having been found unfaithful to her aging husband, Catherine was imprisoned and then beheaded.

Marriage to Catherine Parr

Henry married Catherine in 1543, but being older and not very healthy the majority of the time, she because more like a companion to him. Rumors circled that she betrayed him, but she managed to outlive him befoe he could decide her fate.

Death of Henry VIII

Henry died at the age of 55 in Whitehall Palace. He had suffered from a long range of ailments, mostly having to do with his obesity and the festering ulcers he developed on his legs. Following his death, Edward came to the throne. He and Mary ruled for a while, but in the end it was Elizabeth that made the biggest impact on England with her 45 years reign.
