When he turned 17 he became elligible for military service. Father arranged for him to be accepted into officer training. Coming from a comfortable middle class life in was a big adjustment for him having to deal with military life. The demands were physical and the barracks life was rough and difficult for him being brought as a spoiled young man. He claimss that he led men in combat. He never truly did though and that was actually a lifelong disappointment of his. -
Rise of the Nazis
After world war I ended Himmler got involved in right-wing soldiers organizations and parties. Alot these organizations were formed during the 1920s. He later joined the Nazis and becamed associated with Adolf Hitler. He was involved in Hitlers Munich Beer Hall Putsch. -
Appointment to the head of the SS
Hitler appointed Himmler to the head of the SS, which at the time was Hitlers personal bodyguard and had a collaberation of a mere 300 men. Hitler chose himmler for his loyalty. It was his dilligence and organization that let him build a force of over 50,000 men even even before the Nazis seized power in 1933. -
