Fighting for Control
George Washington fought with the British against the French for control over west land of the Appilachian mountains. BRitian and France however were two of the strongest fources competing with wealth and empire in different parts of the world causing bitter feelings between them in North America. -
Six nations
Confederacy included the Mohwak, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, and Oneida. Later ,in 1722, after the Tuscarora joined, The English referred to it as the Six natios. -
Fur Trading
Hostility is growing between the two as British fur traders a fort at Pickawillany which was later attacked by the French, driving the furtraders put of Ohio. -
The Confederacy
The British moved into the ohio valley. Leaders of the confeddieracy gave trading rights to the British and became allies. Iroquois upset the balance of power between British and French because of the joining in allies of the british and the Confederacy. -
George Washigton
Govener Robert Dinwiddie sent 21 year old George Washington into the Country of Ohio with the mission to tell the French that they were tresspassing on the land Great Bitin had claimed, demanding them to leave. -
The Forte
Dinwiddie sent George Washington, who is now a lieutenant colonel, back to Ohio with a milita of 150 men with the orders to build a forte where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers meet to form the Ohio River. Little did they know they would arive to the French building forte Duquesne on the very spot. -
The meeting
Representatives from many colonies met in Albany, New York, in June to dicuss the threat of war. Wanting to find a defence against themselves against the French
