The Alpha Phi Omega (APO) service fraternity, Dining Services, So Others Might Eat (SOME) and Hillel came together to launch the first trial run of the APO Food Recovery and Donation Project and donated over 2,300 meals. -

The Love Movement (TLM) launched TLM's Food Recovery Network to recover food from Route 1 restaurants. -
Creation
The Food Recovery Network was founded in September 2011 at the University of Maryland, College Park. -
Merging
The APO Food Reocvery and Donation Project and the Love Movement Food Recovery Network merged to form the Food Recovery Network. -
Spreading
FRN started a chapter at Brown University. -
Awards to grow
The Food Recovery Network won $750 in the Pitch Dingman competition to help fund its growth. -
Donating meals
Over 30,000 meals donated. -
Getting larger
The Food Recovery Network continues to spread to other universities and colleges and gain affiliate programs.
