Dutch East India Company was established
The VOC was a chartered company that was established in 1602 to carry out colonial activities in Asia. Due to the spice trade at the time and its inelastic supply in Europe, Portugal, a strong trade country and relations with Spain, was unable to fulfill demands. Therefore the Dutch the saw the Portugese as an appropriate target for military incursions. It was also the most succesful mercantilist corparation of its time and was extremely succesful. Dutch trade prospered under the VOC monopoly. -
