Vice-president Thomas Jefferson defeated president John Adams in a close race throughout the whole election. John Adams and a man named Aaron Burr were tied for the spot of vice-president under Thomas Jefferson, it took the House of Representatives 36 times to finnaly select the vice president. Adams came out on top. -
Marbury v. Madison Supreme Court Decision
The result of Marbury petitioning the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court called it unconstitutional. This is the first time the court had called something unconstitutional. This is the beginning of refining the "checks and balances." -

Lewis & Clark and the group of volunteers from the Northwestern Discovery finnaly reach the Pacific Ocean through the mouth of the Mississippi. They at fist believed it was the Northwest Passage, but it was not. -

The treaty that ended the war of 1812. The treaty was signed in Ghent (modern-day Belgium). The treaty really had no effect besides fixing the srew-ups from the war. -
