Rise in Status
When Confucius turned fifty, he became the magistrate of Chungtu. By this time, Yang Ho was already defeated by the other Barons. Confucius was doing a good job, so he was promoted to the office of the Secretary of Public Works. People said that market prices became fairer after Confucius began running the place. Soon after that, he became the Grand Secretary of Justice. -

Political Dispute
When Confucius was about thirty-five years old, there was a civil strife between the three Barons and the Duke (or the king) of Lu. Yang Ho, who works for one of the Baron of Lu, took over the political power by controlling the Duke of Lu. He wanted Confucius who had a good reputation, to work for him, so no one would dare to rebel against Yang Ho. Confucius decided not to work for Yang Ho but retired to study poetry, history, ritual, and music. The number of Confucius%u2019 students grew rapidly. -

Baby
In the second year of his marriage Confucius has a boy with Ch'i and names him Li. -

Marrige
At age twenty Confucius happily marries a girl with the last name of Ch'i. -

First Job
At age twenty Confucius gets his first job. He was in charge of the granary and became known for his fairness in measurment. Confucius was the n transferred to look after the cattle and sheep, and the cattle and the sheep multiplied quickly. After a while, he got a promotion to be a minister of public work. he would do jobs like construction of buildings. -

Defeat and Victory
When Confucius was seventeen there was an offering by the Baron of Lu for the job of rites and rituals, Cunfucius's dream job. however Confucius was turned away because he was not a scholar. -

Mother's Death
When Confucius was sixteen his mother died. Confucius buried his mother in his fahter's grave and struggled on with strength and courage through these emotional times. -

Driven Away
Confucius was a strange looking child and recieved much ridicule. Ho did not like this and he drove Cheng-tsai and Confucius away. Ho died shortly after. While growing up, Confucius helped his mom with chores and played at making sacrificial offerings. Confucius wanted to be the officer in charge of rights in Lu when he grew up. -

Birth
Confucius was born in the village called Tsou in the country of Lu. His father's name was Shuliang Ho and he came from a long line of powerful figures. Ho had Confucius with his third wife, Cheng-Tsai, who was 47 years younger than himself. -
Study
When Confucius was about thirty-four years old, he went to Chou, the capital, to study the ancient rites and ceremonies and visit Lao Tzu who was a famous Taoist. When Confucius was going back to Lu, Lao Tzu gave him some advice as a goodbye gift: "I have heard that rich people give people money and kind people give people advice, and so I am going to give you some advice: A man who is intelligent and thoughtful is often in danger because he likes to criticize people." -
Traveling
In 499 BC, Confucius and his followers began a journey to find a city that was not corrupt and that they could peacfully reside in. -
Return
After being un successful in their journey Confucius's group returned to the kingdom of Lu. The government in Lu would still not hire Confucius, so he continued to teach poetry, history, ceremonies and music. -
Death
After his journey Confucius came back to find that his wife had died a year earlier. Soon after, his two favorite students and son died, one by one. This made Confucius become very ill. Confucius died in 479 and was buried in Lu on the River Sze at the age of 73. His beliefs and practices will be remembered forever.
