Jennifer Cusworth found dead
On the morning of October 17, 1993, the body of a 19-year-old Jennifer Cusworth is discovered in a ditch off a private driveway on Swamp Road, located in a rural area of Kelowna, BC. Cusworth was last seen at a party at 4:30 a.m. on October 16, 1993. An investigator on the case says it’s, “quite possible the killer was at the party.” Investigators interview 500 offenders, friends and acquaintances, including the 150 people who attended the party. No arrests are made. -
No leads year after Cusworth's death
Jennifer‘s parents, Jean and Terry, coax the RCMP to keep searching for clues. After one year, RCMP have no leads. -
Tenth year anniversary
On the tenth year anniversary of Cusworth's death, a native healing ceremony is held on Swamp Road. To date, no arrests or charges are made. -
New DNA science leads to possible break
RCMP invite the press to the annual Cusworth conference. After gathering over 230 DNA samples, new DNA science gives RCMP a possible break. RCMP work to re-interview everyone who attended the party back in 1993, where Cusworth was last seen alive. Now known as Kelowna's longest cold case, RCMP are confident more developments will be made. -
Accused name in murder
Sixteen years later on October 23, 2009, Neil George Snelson is arrested for first degree murder in the death of Jennifer Cusworth. A father of four and Christian musician, new DNA evidence provided a break in the cold case. RCMP confirm Snelson attended the house party back on October 16, 1993. -
Preliminary hearing opens
A preliminary hearing begins for Neil Snelson. Evidence presented at the inquiry is subject to a publication ban. -
Snelson to stand trial
